Atlas of Distances
The Atlas of Distances exhibition explores the significance of distance through the language of design and architecture. Considering both quantifiable and qualitiative aspects of distance, the exhibition considers its diverse manifestations in material and immaterial systems, and explores its relationship with living environments.
The exhibition is the result of an educational collaboration bringing together students from three design departments at three schools — the Faculty of Architecture at Technical University of Timișoara (RO), Studio Technogeographies from Design Academy Eindhoven (NL), and Borders and Territories from TU Delft (NL).
During a workshop in May 2023, the students used various modes of design observation and interaction to investigate interconnectedness and separations in Timișoara’s weather, resource extraction, and industrial cycles. Based on an open call, nine projects were selected for further development and exhibition. Additionally, an extensive collection of student projects will be displayed in poster format, allowing visitors to explore the full breadth of the collaboration.
