Ioan Both

Ioan Both is a Senior Lecturer within the Steel Structures and Structural Mechanics department of Politehnica University of Timisoara. His research covers the response of steel structures with tensioned elements, the cyclic behaviour of steel grades, the response of steel elements and connections under fire situations, the capacity of lightweight elements of cold-formed beams with corrugated web, and built-up back-to-back cold formed elements. The research combines experimental tests in the laboratory and finite element modelling using general and dedicated computer programs. Ioan has collaborated with researchers from Czech Technical University in Prague, Technical University in Munich, University of Ljubljana and University of Zagreb. Complementing the research and teaching activities, his work is anchored in practical application, through research of elements and connections used for modern buildings, and also design of structures for private or commercial projects.
